Creating a feeling of value & self-worth!
____________________________________________________

When asked the secret to great wealth, billionaire H. L. Hunt gave a simple four step formula:

  1. Decide on what it is that you want
  2. Decide what you are willing to give up to get it
  3. Set your priorities accordingly
  4. Be about it!

Attitude is Everything . . .

Dear Fellow Achiever

The most important attitude for financial success is long-term thinking.

Successful people think a long way into the future and they adjust their daily behaviours to assure they achieve their long-term goals.

In a longitudinal study done at Harvard University in the 50s and 60s, they studied the reasons for upward socio-economic mobility. They were looking for factors that would predict whether or not an individual or family was going to move upward and be wealthier in the future than in the present.

They studied factors like education, intelligence, being born into the right family, or having the right connections. In every case, they found individuals who had been born with every blessing in life who did poorly. They also found individuals who had been born or come to this country with no advantages at all who had been extremely successful. What was the distinguishing factor?

They finally determined that there was only one key attitude that mattered. They called it “Time Perspective.” Time perspective refers to the amount of time that you take into consideration when planning your day to day activities and when making important decisions in your life.

Time Perspective

People with long-time perspective invariably move up economically in the course of their lifetimes. When you spend weeks, months and years developing your skills and ability and expanding your experience in order to be successful, you have long-time perspective. The average professional person has a time perspective of 10, 15 and 20 years.

Begin to see that everything that you are doing today is part of a long-time continuum, at the end of which you are going to be financially independent or financially unfortunate. People with short-time perspective think only about fun and pleasure in the short term. They have what economists call “The inability to delay gratification.” They have an irresistible tendency to spend every single penny they earn and everything that they can borrow.

When you develop long-time perspective, you develop the discipline to delay gratification and to save your money rather than spending it. The combination of long-time perspective and delayed gratification puts you onto the high road to financial independence.

Your ability to discipline yourself “to do what you should, when you should do it, whether you feel like it or not,” is the key to becoming a great person and living a great life. When you develop the habits of self-discipline, you will accomplish more in a month than most people accomplish in a year.

Dear Fellow Achiever

The very best times you will ever have at any job or company are when you are getting along wonderfully well with your boss. On the other hand, the very worst times you will ever have at any job are when you are not getting along well with your boss. And the major reason why employees have problems with their bosses is because of a lack of clarity about what exactly is to be done, and to what standard, and in what order of priority.

It is important to your boss that you are making the appropriate decisions for the company and completing your job. In order to make decisions effectively, you must know the three types of decisions.

Three Types of Decisions

There are three types of decisions in any organization or family. When decisions involve other people, it is important that everyone is clear about what kind of a decision is under consideration.

Command Decisions

These decisions have to be made by the boss or the person in charge. These decisions are so important that one person is solely responsible for making up his mind about what is to be done.

Hiring a key staff member, firing a poor performer, making an important investment decision, or even negotiating a new loan with the bank are all command decisions. They must be made by the person in charge.

Consultative Decisions

This is a decision where you, or the boss, ask for advice and take input from other people. You combine the opinions, ideas, and inputs of others, together with your own, and make a decision. Even though it invites the advice and participation of others, a consultative decision is not made based on that advice.

You may be thinking of hiring a new person, assigning someone a particular task, spending a certain amount of money on a business activity, or embarking on a new sales or marketing campaign. If you are the boss, you can ask for advice from everyone before you finally close the door and make your final decision.

Consensus Decisions

The third type of decision is one that is made on the basis of consensus. This is a democratic decision where everyone gets involved, discusses the pros and cons, and then agrees on what is to be done.

Sometimes, everyone is in agreement, and sometimes the decision is made by a democratic vote, where the majority rules. Once the decision has been made, everyone commits to making the decision successful, however they may have voted during the discussion phase.

Action Exercise

Practice participative management with your staff, hold weekly staff meetings and invite everyone to participate and ask questions.

Earn the Respect of Others . . .

Dear Fellow Achiever

Being respected by others is very important to each of us. A survey done by the Gallup organization found that the most prominent living Americans rated the respect of others as the most important measure of success in life. They worked very hard to earn the respect of their parents, the respect of their spouses and children, the respect of their peers and colleagues, and the respect of mankind at large.

Why You Respect Yourself

It seems that we truly respect ourselves only when we feel that we are respected by others, and we will go to great lengths to earn and keep that respect. When we feel that someone respects us for who we are and what we have accomplished, we tend to be more open to that person’s influence.

Two Things You Can Do

We can do two things to put ourselves in a position to be respected by others. The first is to develop our knowledge of our field.

=> www.FreeRKCD.com

The more people perceive you know about your subject, the more they will respect you. The highest-paid people in almost every field are those who know more than the average people. They are recognized as experts, and they develop what is called “expert power.” Because of their superior knowledge, they are looked up to and listened to, and they are much more capable of influencing others to act in a particular way than they would be if their knowledge level were just average.

Develop Your Expertise

Another way to put ourselves in a position of being respected by others is to develop your expertise. Expertise is closely tied to knowledge, but it is a little different. Expertise is the ability to do, the ability to perform well in your chosen field.

=> www.FreeRKCD.com

Men and women with expertise are those who practice over and over in whatever they do until they become known far and wide as the very best in their field.

Action Exercises

Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action:

First, study your field in detail. Dedicate at least one hour per day to reading, listening to audio programs, studying to become more and more knowledgeable about what you do.

Second, continually upgrade your knowledge and skills in your field. Identify your weakest important skill and go to work on that.

A Sense Of Direction

The Law of Priorities . . .

=> Home Business Opportunity

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Dear Fellow Achiever

The very worst use of your time is to do what need not be done at all. The Pareto Principle says that 20% of your activities will account for 80% of the value of your activities. This means that, if you have a list of ten items to accomplish, two of those items will be worth more than the other eight items altogether.

To achieve great things, you must always be concentrating on the small number of activities that contribute the greatest value to your life and your work.

Determine the Consequences

The value of anything in your order of priorities can be measured by assessing the potential consequences of doing it or not doing it. Something that is important has significant consequences to your life and your career. Something that is unimportant has few or no consequences of significance to your life or career. The mark of the superior thinker is your ability to consider possible consequences before you begin.

Ask the Key Question

Continually ask yourself, “What is the most valuable use of my time, right now?” And whatever it is, work on that. Your ability to discipline yourself to work on those few tasks that can make the greatest difference in your life is the key quality that makes everything else possible for you.

Action Exercises

Here is how you can apply this law immediately:

First, make a list of everything that you do as a part of your job. Now, analyse the list and select the three to five things that are more important than everything else put together.

Second, imagine that you are going to receive a $100,000 bonus at the end of the month if you can work on your highest priority items every minute of the day. How would that change your behaviour? What would you do differently?

Do What You Do Best; Delegate the Rest . . .

Are you interested in starting a home business?

=> Click here to find out more

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Dear Fellow Achiever

There is a strong likelihood that the things you do best are those for which you would pay another person your hourly rate. Another way of stating this is, “delegate any tasks that can be performed by a person earning less than your hourly rate””or your desired hourly rate.”

Delegate to a Person with Demonstrated Competence

Having determined what to delegate, the next step is to select the person to whom you will delegate the task. If you delegate an important task to a person who is incapable of performing adequately, you are setting that individual up for failure while inviting disappointment and frustration on your part. This is not to say the person has to be as capable as you. But he must have sufficient skills and experience to effectively perform the delegated task. Choose carefully. It is in the best interest of the person to whom you are delegating and of course, in your own best interest as well.

Define the Task Clearly

Be clear as to your intended outcome. What is the end result you want to achieve when the delegated task has been completed? Make every effort to describe this clearly to the person to whom you are delegating the task. Then ask her to repeat her understanding of the assigned task. If her description is not an accurate summary of what you want to accomplish, explain the differences in detail and ask her to again feed back to you her understanding of the assignment. If the two of you do not start out on the same page, there is little likelihood of success.

Set a Deadline

Set a clear deadline for completion of the delegated task. Do not be vague. An ambiguous target such as “sometime next week,” or “as soon as you can get it done” will not serve either of you well. Without a clearly defined completion date, there will be no sense of urgency, and the job may very well drag on ad infinitum, frustrating you both.

Establish Benchmarks

It will be important for both of you to be able to gauge the progress being made as the delegated task is carried out. Specifically, how will you measure this progress? Reach agreement on the yardstick by which you will make such judgments.

Agree on Consequences

What will be the consequences of the person successfully completing the delegated task? Are these consequences known by the person charged with the responsibility of carrying them out? Are they important to him? Will they serve to motivate him? The consequences do not have to be enormous, but they should be meaningful to him. Otherwise they will have little effect. Their emotional import is what will have the greatest affect.

Put it in Writing

Before the delegated assignment is launched, there is one additional important step. Have the entire process described to this point documented in a written agreement. Then, have each of you sign it. Psychologically, this final step transforms your mutual understanding into a commitment.

Action Exercise

What one activity or task that does not represent the highest and best use of your time, but that is nevertheless important to the success of your business, will you delegate?

Be a Doctor of Selling

Dear Fellow Achiever

Top sales professionals see themselves as “Doctors of Selling.” They see themselves as professionals, well educated, acting in their “patient’s” best interest, and bound by a high code of ethics.

The medical process is the same everywhere. Whenever you go to any doctor, of any kind, for any condition, he will follow the three part sequence of examination, diagnosis and prescription.

Begin With a Thorough Examination

Just as a medical professional would never think of treating you without following these three steps in order, you as a doctor of selling, would never allow a customer to force you to sell without your going through your three stages as well. This is as applicable to selling magazines door-to-door as it is to selling oil tankers to Exxon.

In the examination phase, you ask excellent questions, carefully prepared, in sequence, which are geared to give you a thorough knowledge of the patient’s condition, or the customer’s situation.

Diagnose the Customer’s Need Accurately

The second phase is that of diagnosis. In the diagnosis phase with a customer, you would repeat back the results of your examination and double check to be sure that the symptoms that you had detected were the real symptoms being experienced by the patient. You would ask additional questions to confirm and corroborate. You and the patient would mutually agree that this diagnosis seems to be an accurate description of the condition or problem.

Make the Right Prescription

Once this mutual agreement has been reached, that a treatable condition exists and that you have identified it accurately, you can move on to phase three. This is the prescription phase, where you show the patient (customer) that your product or services is the best available treatment, taking all the factors of the patient’s situation into consideration for the ailment that you have diagnosed. You show that, on balance, what you are suggesting is the best of all possible solutions.

Professionals who sell in the way that doctors treat patients find that their sales activities proceed far more smoothly and result in better sales in less time.

Action Exercises

Here are two things you can do immediately to put these ideas into action.

First, take the time to do a thorough examination by asking excellent questions and by listening carefully to the answers.

Second, repeat back and check your diagnosis with the customer so that you both agree on the need or problem – before you recommend a solution.

A Sense Of Direction

The Law of Capital . . .

You can join 1000s of real people worldwide who are quietly building their own “income for life” from home!

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Dear Fellow Achiever

The Law of Capital – your most valuable asset, in terms of cash flow, is your physical and mental capital, your earning ability.

Your Earning Ability

You may not even be aware that, unless you are wealthy already, your ability to work is the most valuable asset that you have. By utilizing your earning ability to its fullest, you can bring thousands of dollars each year into your life. By applying your earning ability to the production of valuable goods and services, you can generate sufficient money to pay for all the things that you want in life. The amount of money that you are paid today is a direct measure of the extent to which you have developed your earning ability so far.

Use Your Time Well

The first corollary of the Law of Capital says: “Your most precious resource is your time.” Your time is really all you have to sell. How much time you put in and how much of yourself you put into that time, largely determines your earning ability. Poor time management is one of the major reasons for poor productivity and underachievement in every industry. It is the number one problem for both managers and salespeople in every field.

Invest Yourself Carefully

The second corollary of the Law of Capital says: “Time and money can be either spent or invested.” One of the smartest things that you can do is to invest three percent of your earnings every month back into yourself on personal and professional development, on becoming better at the most important things you do. In fact, if you just invested as much in your mind each year as you do in your car, that alone could make you wealthy.

Invest one hour of your time reading in your field every day. Listen to audio programs in your car. Attend every course that can advance you in your career. Get personal and professional coaching to help you to get the very best out of yourself.

Get Better At the Things You Do

There is nothing that will give you a bigger and better “Bang” for your buck than reinvesting a part of your time and money back into your capability to earn even more. All wealthy and successful people have learned this sooner or later, and all poor and ununhappy people are still trying to figure it out.

Increase Your Return on Life

The third corollary of the Law of Capital says: “One of the best investments of your time and money is to increase your earning ability.”

The purpose of corporate strategic planning is to increase “return on equity” or ROE. This requires organizing and reorganizing corporate activities so that the company is earning a higher return on the capital invested in the organization. In your work life, your personal equity is your mental and emotional capital. Your job then is to earn the highest possible return on your human capital, to increase your “return on energy.” This way of viewing yourself must become a key part of your attitude throughout your work life.

Action Exercises

Here are two things you can do to apply this law immediately:

First, take a list of your output responsibilities, the things you do that represent accomplishments, not activities. Examine the list and rank the task by priority, on the basis of the value of the work to your company.

Second, take a list of all the things you do, day in and day out. Take this list to your boss and ask him or her to rank your tasks in terms of how valuable he or she considers them to be. Then resolve to work on your most valuable tasks every minute of every day.

Robert Kiyosaki will reveal to you a simple business plan, that you can start part-time and create immediate cash flow.

Dear Fellow Achiever

If you want to be wealthy, you must understand what wealth is. Here is the best definition of wealth you will ever find. Wealth is “Cash flow from other sources.”

Make Your Money Work For You

What this means is that, you are not wealthy just because you earn a lot of money. You are only wealthy when your money works for you. To become wealthy, your main job is to acquire money and then put it to work making more money for you.

Add Value Continually

The key to creating wealth is simple. It is called “adding value.” Successful people are those who are always looking for ways to add value in some way to a person, a company, a product or a service.

Do it Faster

Here is an example of adding value: Domino’s Pizza. The founders of Domino’s Pizza took a common food, offered by thousands of little restaurants and added a value to the pizza by delivering it more rapidly than anyone else. The added value of speed enabled Domino’s to create a billion dollar empire and made the founder of Domino’s, Tom Monahan, one of the richest men in the world.

Buy It Cheaper Somewhere Else

Another way to add value is to buy something in one place at one price and then make it available in another place for another price. For example, buying a product or service manufactured in Europe or Asia, importing it to the United States and making it available to people to whom it was not available before, is a way of adding value for which you can charge a higher price.

Improve the Life or Work of Others

All manufacturing and marketing is based on this principle of added value. All importation and distribution aims to add value. Performing a service that enhances the life or work of another person adds value. A dentist who takes away pain is adding value. An accountant who saves a client money on taxes is adding or actually creating value. A salesperson who introduces a new product or service to a customer that helps that customer in some way is adding value. All financial success, especially business success, is based on adding value. It is based on the old saying, “Find a need and fill it.”

Combine and Recombine the Elements of Value

All successful business is based on someone bringing together the factors of production, such as labor, capital, raw materials and management, and creating a product or service that a customer will pay a price for that is in excess of the cost of producing it.

How All Fortunes Are Made

Adding value is the way that all fortunes are made. Whenever you see an opportunity to give people what they want at a price greater than it costs you to produce that product or service, you see an opportunity to make a profit, build a business and begin moving toward financial success. Almost any business or occupation can make you financially independent if you can find a way to add enough value.

Action Exercises

Now, here are two actions you can take immediately to add more value to your time and activities:

First, take the time to be absolutely clear about what it is that people want and need to improve their lives and work. The more clear you are about their real needs, the easier it is for you to satisfy them at a higher level.

Second, look for ways to add value to what you are doing every day in every way. Never be satisfied with the status quo. One small idea to add value can be the starting point of a great fortune.

Dear Fellow Achiever

The best marketing know-how in the World won’t make a difference to your personal wealth if you’re unable to manage your time effectively. It’s all about being clear on your goals. And then setting priorities around those goals.

From the very first day of running any new business I’m always crystal clear about what I want to achieve. Then my daily, weekly and monthly priorities are 100% focused on achieving that.

How about you?

If you struggle to prioritise your day, or don’t feel you’re getting any closer to your ultimate goals then today’s post explains how to prioritise your time, so the most important tasks – the ones that do actually keep moving you towards your goals – get done sooner rather than later.

I recommend you archive today’s post and refer to it anytime you feel yourself slipping back into old habits.

Prioritise Your Time

When you prioritise your day, you choose to work primarily on the important tasks, those that take you closer to your goals. Knowing what your goals and therefore priorities are keeps you on track and helps to minimise stress.

A crucial aspect of time management is understanding the difference between activities that are:

  • Urgent and important
  • Not urgent but important
  • Urgent but not important
  • Not urgent and not important.

Activities that are important and urgent include emergencies, complaints, crises, customer demands, tasks or projects that are due, meetings, appointments, staff problems, reports, and submissions.

Activities that are important but not urgent are ones which are crucial to your success. They include; planning, preparation, scheduling, research, investigation, designing, testing, networking and relationship building, thinking, creating, modelling, developing systems and processes, and developing strategies.

Activities that are not important but urgent are ones that include: trivial requests from other people, apparent emergencies, minor interruptions and distractions, misunderstandings, and pointless routines or activities.

Activities that are not important and not urgent are those that include computer games, surfing the internet, lots of cigarette or coffee breaks, social chats, daydreaming, taking social phone calls, or reading irrelevant material.

Time management experts say a lot of time is wasted on those ‘comforting’ non-urgent, non-important activities while very little time is spent on important but non-urgent activities that could actually make the biggest difference to a person’s success.

To Do Lists.

To create your ‘To Do’ list, write down all the tasks you need to carry out. Once you’ve written them all down, identify those that would come under the ‘urgent and important’ heading. They’re the ones that you need to focus your energy on and do first.

Make time during your day for non-urgent but crucial activities like planning, designing, developing, etc. When you’re confronted with non-important but urgent tasks, determine exactly how urgent they are. Often, their ‘urgency’ will dissipate under close scrutiny. Activities that would come under the heading ‘non urgent and non important’ are ones that need to be minimised (if not stopped altogether).

This kind of ‘To Do’ list means that you retain control of your time and energy. You’ll be able to schedule your work so that you focus mostly on your priorities – those things that move you closer to your goals.

The list will help you to keep focussed on your primary goals each day and help you keep track of everything you need to do. You’ll also be able to see at a glance which of your less important tasks can be delegated to other people.

If any of your tasks or projects appears overwhelmingly large, chunk them down into manageable pieces. Keep chunking them down until you have something that you can begin work on immediately.

Now, it’s a fact that business owner, you’ll be interrupted throughout your day… so what happens to working on your priorities when yet another telephone call comes through or there’s another knock on your office door? Allow for some interruptions and unexpected events – make them part of your schedule. You know they’ll happen so prepare for them.

One way to minimise interruptions is to delegate tasks that take up your time but don’t take you closer to your goals.

Action Steps

Of course, setting goals, scheduling, prioritising, organising and writing lists are only valuable if you take action and make use of the information.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Dear Fellow Achiever

The ability to start and complete your most important task determines your productivity more than any other skill. Maximum performance is possible only when you concentrate single-mindedly on the task””the most important task, and you stay at it until it is 100 percent complete.

Do the Most Important Task
You cannot do everything, but you can do one thing, the most important thing, and you can do it now. By setting goals and priorities, and then by selecting your most important task, you can dramatically increase your level of productivity and output.

Single Handling
Single handling is perhaps the most powerful of all time management techniques. It can increase your output by as much as 500 percent. It can reduce the amount of time you spend on a task by fully 80 percent””by the very act of launching into the task and disciplining yourself to stay with it until it is complete.

Refuse to Stop till Done
Picking up a task, putting it down and coming back to it several times, dramatically increases the amount of time necessary to complete the task. On the other hand, picking up the task and refusing to put it down until it is done enables you to accomplish vastly more in a shorter period of time than you thought possible. By disciplining yourself to concentrate single-mindedly on the most important thing you could possibly be doing, and then by completing that task, you increase the quantity, quality, and value of your output substantially.

Feel like a Winner
You can have all the talent and skill in the world. But if you cannot discipline yourself single-mindedly to complete your most important task, you will always have to work for someone else. You will always have to be supervised by someone who can make sure that you do what you should do, when you should do it. The good news is that every time you complete a major task, you experience a surge of energy, enthusiasm, and self-esteem. You feel terrific about yourself. You feel happy and elated. You feel like a winner.

Task Completion
By assigning yourself a large task and then by disciplining yourself to concentrate single-mindedly until the task is complete, you eventually develop the all-important habit of task completion. You program your subconscious mind in such a way that you look forward to major tasks because you know how good you are going to feel when you have completed them.

Action Exercise
Resolve today to develop the lifelong habit of task completion. You do this by selecting your most important task, getting yourself organized, and then working on it wholeheartedly until it is complete. Do this over and over until this habit of single handling is firmly entrenched.
